Camels usually live in desertlike environments in Asia and northern Africa, in temepratures up to 40 degrees centigrade.
Angered, a suburb to Gothenburg in southern Sweden is not particularly desertlike. Even so, a program to start a farm for breeding camels was started in 2012. "It will be much more fun to live in Angered when there are camels there" was one of many enthusiastic slogans.
After 5 years, in 2017, no camels had arrived in Angered in spite of generous sponsorships from the town of Gothenberg and some cultural institutions. Five million Swedisch crowns. (About 800.000 $)
Representatives from Angered decided to tour the world to study camels in their natural habitat. They came home with the idea to sell camel milk which they said would cure autism, tuberculosis, diabetes and liver diseases.
But there were as yet no camels to milk, so 1500 liters of camel milk was imported. From Holland !!
When the bankrupcy took place, 4695 Swedish crowns remained (About 670$) of the five million and it certainly had not been "more fun to live in Angered"
